Toddler Bed Experience Night #2

So, last night Kellen didn't fall out of bed once!!!!  He cried a little when I left the room and shut his door. :(  And was screaming, "mum mum", BROKE MY HEART!!!  He would climb down off his bed and run to the door crying my name, no SCREAMING my name, then crawl back up on his bed, all the while carrying his blankie.  Seeing him climb up on his big bed, with such little energy and tugging his blankie too was really sweet and sad!!!!  When I heard him screaming, I went in and scooped him up and sang his favorite song to him.  I don't want him to be scared of the dark!  I was able to calm him down, so I laid him back in his bed, but then again he got up and started crying again.  I knew that I couldn't keep going in his room, so I stood outside his door praying that he would calm down and fall asleep.  He did this 2-3 times but after about 5 minutes he passed out, ok he cried himself to sleep.:( Its really hard being a tough mom!  I just wanted to soothe him, but in order for him to learn I couldn't go rushing into his room each time he cried my name!  That is the hardest part of motherhood!  But, again, I think he did really well.  He never fell out once.  I pray that tonight he doesn't tear my heart out of my chest again and he just stays in bed and falls peacefully asleep.

A BUSY Week! (A Long Post)

This past week has been eventful and busy!  It started on Monday, the company where I work celebrated Lab Week (Evan and I work at a Lab).  I work in HR, so I volunteer to work all of the events and join the committees.  I am a huge planner and love events, so its perfect for me.  It takes us about 2 months to plan this event, and it lasts all week long.  We do something special for our employees everyday.  We play games, have contests, do a huge raffle (2 $500 Amex gift cards and 1 I Pad 2) and all the money goes to Meals on Wheels and Mission Children's Hospital (this year we raised a little over $2,300!!! We did another money and food raising event, and all the money and food went to Manna.  We raised 3,787 pounds of food for Manna and about $1000!  CRAZY RIGHT!!!!)  We have a company cookout, have a pizza party, an ice cream social and serve breakfast.  Its a really REALLY busy week!  So, in addition to making sure everything runs smooth for that, I have to continue with my regular duties.  I was exhausted by the end of the work day, then I got to play with my hyper toddler!   My only concern is that everyone enjoyed it and appreciates the hard work that goes in to it!

Ive been nesting like crazy trough all of this.  I have a few items that I want to sell DIRT CHEAP, so if you live in the area and want a Queen size mattress, with box springs and frame (no headboard) let me know!  I have to get rid of it!!  It was in my guest room, which is now the nursery and it was only used maybe 12 times.  I am asking $100.  Also, I have a 4 drawer file cabinet, no rust or anything messed up, I am asking $20.  AND, I have an OLD TV, its free.  Let me know if you want it.

I made 5 loaves of homemade bread and about a gallon of juice (Orange, banana, grape and apple).  I froze most of it, but since Kellen loves it, I will have to make more soon!

I added more items to my hospital bag, had a dr appt (baby is GREAT btw) now I go every 2 weeks, washed up more of Grayson's newborn clothes and stocked up on more diapers this week, gave Kellen a hair cut and took him to his first birthday party!

The BIG thing that, Kellen has figured out how to climb out of his crib!  So I started thinking that transitioning his crib to a toddler bed was just around the corner.  I was hoping we wouldn't have to do it until he was 2, but life happens on it's own schedule!  Then, on Saturday morning Evan and I woke up to Kellen crying, which he never does!  He usually happily plays in his crib until we get there.  So I went into his room, Evan was just heading out the door to work, and Kellen's leg was completely stuck in between the crib slats!!  I couldn't get his leg out!  And he was scream crying!  I yelled CALMLY to Evan and he came back in and helped get his leg out.  Kellen was so scared and upset!  And his leg got a big bruise on it!  So, last night we transitioned to the toddler bed.  And... Kellen didn't get out of bed once!!! I thought for sure once I left the room that he would get up and start to play, nope! He laid right down and fell asleep! AND he only fell out twice. The first time he cried because I hadn't put down the pillows yet, so I went in and laid him back down and he immediately stopped crying, then at around 3am I went to check on him and he was laying on the pile of pillows passed out, I laid him back down and that was it!! I think he gets it!  I have to admit, it is hard facing the fact that he's reached another big milestone, but I am so proud of him. This will make my life easier...not having to lift and lower a 30 pound baby in his crib, 7.5 months pregnant!!!  My baby is certainly growing up!

I am 29 weeks and 1 day pregnant!  I am feeling fine, just the regular aches and pains, but I really can't complain!  I am getting SO big!!!  Grayson (which I LOVE LOVE LOVE that I can call him by his name now!!!!) is kicking and punching and moving like crazy!  I swear he never sleeps!  I love every second of it.  I am surprised that my heart burn isn't that bad this time!  With Kellen it was awful, I had acid reflux!  I've been doing really good at keeping up with my water and haven't had many braxton hicks!  Which makes me happy!

Here's some pictures from this week. :)

Kellen was feeling Grayson kick!!!  This was such a special moment!  He was feeling him move, and then he started kissing my belly and then Kellen went and grabbed his sippy and set it on my belly!!!  Loving and sharing ALREADY!

Here I am yesterday to mark my 29 week pregnant belly.

The last night Kellen slept in his crib. :(

At the birthday party.  He was not happy this day.  It was Saturday, after his leg got stuck in the slats, I think he was just not feeling like partying.  We only stayed for about 30 minutes, just long enough to give the birthday girls their presents.

This was Saturday night, we were introducing Kellen's toddler bed. :)

Night night!!!

Sweet Pea's Name!

I have been dying to announce to everyone what we have decided to name our sweet pea!!!  Today is a VERY special day and I will tell you why soon.  I've been calling him "sweet pea" or "baby" for 29 weeks now and I am so ready to be able to call him by his name!  SO.........Kellen's baby brother, our sweet pea, our miracle baby, mommy's baby boy's name is......

When I say his name I smile, it feels so good, so right!  This name is very meaningful to me and Evan.  First, I've always loved the name Grayson and thought after having Kellen that if we were to have another baby I wanted to be the one naming him after my side of the family since Evan pretty much named Kellen.  And Kellen's middle name is Leslie, after Evan's middle name and Evan's dad's first name.  So, this time it was pretty much my call.  I wrote a list of about 20 names, and asked a lot of facebook friends their opinion.  I wrote all the names down that were suggested and Evan and I read through them all.  Grayson was the one that stood out the most.  Then came the middle name.  This name hit me like a ton of bricks.  Everyone who really knows me, knows that my best friend and Kellen's God Mother is Stacey Thomas-Bartlebaugh.  I adore her and her family.  They have been there for me and my family more than anyone could ever imagine, and I am so extremely blessed that we were put together, like sister's.  I've been best friends with her since we were 5 years old, almost 30 years!  And in honor of her, Grayson's middle name is...

Today is Stacey's birthday and I am SO glad that today, on her birthday I get to share her new God baby's name with everyone.
Happy birthday Stacey, we adore you, respect you, and we love you!

28 Weeks

How far along? 28 weeks and 1 day!
Total weight gain: I have no idea.  If I had to guess I would say 20 lbs.  I will find out this week.
Size of Baby: 15 inches and 2.25 pounds.
Sleep: I've been sleeping really well lately!  Besides waking up every couple hours to pee, but I fall right back asleep.
Best moment this week: I started my final stretch in my pregnancy, I am in my THIRD TRIMESTER!!!
Movement: I feel him move all the time now and I love every second of it!!!
Food cravings: Donuts!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope!  Not at all!
Pregnancy Brain Moment: I can't remember! HAHAHA!  Seriously though, there have been a TON of "slow" moments, where I can't remember what I was doing or saying.  Or someone will make a casual comment to me and it takes me forever to soak in what they are saying.
Name Game: I can't wait to tell you all!!! I think that I will announce it NEXT WEEKEND!!!  I can't wait to call him by his name in public!
Labor Signs: None!  Not even braxton hicks!
Symptoms: I am starting to get a little heart burn now, so Rolaids are right next to my bed.
Belly Button in or out? Still in and out, but its out a little more often now.  When he pushes on my belly, or I am really full it will stick out.
Wedding rings on or off? On
What I've done this week to prepare for Baby Martz: A LOT!  We cleaned out our storage room, and cleaned out most of the non-baby stuff in the nursery!!!  His room is 90% ready to move the crib and dresser and stuff in!!!  I put together his bassinet/pack and play, stocked it full of diapers, wipes, blankets, changing covers and swaddle blankets.  Next weekend I am going to buy Kellen's new car seats so that our new baby can use the infant car seats that we have.  I still really need to buy a crib for baby, and a dresser for Kellen.  I hope to have those items purchase within the next couple weeks.
Happy or Moody most of the time? I am a little overwhelmed lately.  I've got a lot going on at work right now, so that plus the stress of getting things ready for baby is taking its toll on me.
Looking forward to: Getting all the decorations and things for his room!  I am in full blown nesting mode!!  And on April 24 I have another dr appt!

Bye Uncle Kyle.

Dear Kyle,

We are sad that you've gone to be with Tawny, Niko, Kiki, Paco and Ponch, but we are all certain that you ran as fast as you could across that Rainbow bridge and you were free and had no pain.  We will miss you ole boy, Uncle Kyle.  You brought a lot of happiness to the Martzes.  Love you and see you later.  Give Niko and Kiki slobbery kiss from all of us.

My last post I talked about Allicat Boutique and the cutest baby stuff she sent me.  Well here it is!

Isn't she SO sweet!!

I love this!  Its a baby wipes carrier.  I am already using it!

Matching onsie/shirt!  Kellen and his "lil bro" will wear this when they meet for the first time!  I can NOT wait to see my boys in these!

This is a Maternity Sash!  I will wear it when I have my maternity pictures done and at my baby shower. Isn't it SO cute!  If you can't see the little bottle cap in the center it says, "little feet leave big imprints on our heart", SO TRUE!

You have GOT to check out her facebook page Allicat Boutique I secretly told her sweet pea's name, so she is working on something special for him. :)

Coming Up...

I have been waiting to make a special blog post for a couple weeks now.  One amazing lady who owns the cutest boutique made some really cute stuff for me, Kellen and our growing baby (whose name will be announced later this month).  I was going to wait and share it, but I just can't stand it anymore!  I HAVE to show you all how sweet this stuff is!  So stay tuned!  If you want a sneak peak at some items that she's made, then check out her facebook page.  I promise, if you have a little girl you will be in heaven!  AND she makes cute little boy stuff too!  When you look through her album titled, Caden's Corner, you will see Kellen showing off some of her cute onsie's.  And many of those items were made specifically for Kellen!  Here is the link to her page: Allicat Boutique  I have to add, that her prices are beyond reasonable (trust me I've done my research, and I am an extreme bargain hunter.)  Everything she makes is hand made, AND she is really patient!  I am telling you, I am SO picky and she has never once gotten irritated with me!  And the money she makes goes towards raising her beautiful family.  I can't WAIT until I tell her our new baby's name so I can get her to monogram some onsies for him!  I LOVE MONOGRAMMING!  I think I may have to tell her early! hehe!

26 Weeks!

How far along? 26 weeks and 2 days!
Total weight gain: 18 pounds.
Size of Baby: 14 inches and one and two-thirds pounds.
Sleep: The past week or so has been difficult.  I get up 3-4 times to pee, and about 4-5 times to readjust my hips.  They are burning while I sleep and it wakes me up.  I feel like I am about 80 years old when I get out of bed now and hobble to the bathroom.  I made an appointment to see a chiropractor for next Wednesday.  I have no idea hat to expect.  I've never seen a chiropractor before, but a friend of mine who is as far along as I am see's one for the same issues and she says its helped her out a lot.
Best moment this week:I felt hiccups!!!  They were really tiny but no doubt, I felt them!  Kellen used to get them all the time, sometimes twice a day!
Movement: Yes!!!  He moves so much!  It's almost constant, but even more so at night while I am relaxing with my heating pad and after I eat.  He has been stretching out, that is one WEIRD feeling!
Food cravings:EVERYTHING!
Anything making you queasy or sick: I haven't had it much this week, but when I do I immediately take a Zofran.
Pregnancy Brain Moment: Still no pregnancy moments...that I can remember...hahah!  I am still going through the nesting phase.  I reorganized my walk-in closet a few days ago.  I was getting sick and tired of not finding clothes and know that once this little guy gets here I wont have the time or patience to look for anything!  So, it is all nice and organized and I love it!  This week I want to clean out my storage room!
Name Game:  Like I said, we have a name.  We've only told our closest family and asked them not to share yet.  I will announce it at the beginning of May. :)
Labor Signs: I had more cramping on March 30-31.  It's all related to stress.  I have been ignoring a lot of things that I normally don't because I really can not deal with any stress right now.  It causes my stomach to instantly cramp up, so for my baby's health I am ignoring certain things that upset me.  After my baby arrives safe and sound I will deal with it then.
Symptoms:Still getting some Braxton Hicks at night.  The hip pain is most prevalent right now, and some lower back pain too.  All very normal for this point in my pregnancy.  I have a pregnancy belt, but it was too big still, so a friend of mine is fixing it for me, so hopefully I will start to wear that this week and take some pressure off my back and hips.
Belly Button in or out? It goes back and forth.  Some days it is in and some days it is out....weird.  Kellen likes to poke it.
Wedding rings on or off? On
What I've done this week to prepare for Baby Martz:  All the bottles have been sterilized and I bought a couple more onsies and some newborn pants.
Happy or Moody most of the time?  Honestly, I have been feeling more emotional.  I am SO happy and I can't wait to meet my little boy!
Looking forward to: April 21!  I will be in the THIRD TRIMESTER!!!  And on April 23 I have anther dr appt!

Today was a really fun and VERY busy day!  I feel so thankful to have celebrated this Easter with my friends and family.  Here is our day in mostly pictures.  I didn't take any pictures of when we colored the eggs because it was too hard to take pictures myself since Evan was still sleeping. After they were done, Kellen got to eat his breakfast in the living room while watching his favorite cartoons.

Then, he got his Easter baskets...

We played around the house for a while, ate lunch and then read his Bible.

Then, we had our own little egg hunt!  He liked running around picking up the eggs, he could find them if he was pointed in the right direction, but refused to put them in the basket.  He wanted to hold them ALL in his little hands!

I showed him what was INSIDE the eggs...candy!!!  He LOVED that!

One of the Easter Egg trees.

The other Easter Egg tree and a cute little boy!

Then we went to Aunt Amber's where there were lots of people there celebrating Easter.  We had another Easter egg hunt!  Kellen found 5 eggs!  He had his first skittle and loved it, he also had his first jelly bean and didn't like it.

 Aunt Jen!

HA!  Aunt Jen gave him a basket of goodies, he really likes these puffs!

Everyone was sitting outside on the deck.  Then he got a little goofy...

LOL!  He started smooshing his face up against the window screen!  Everyone was laughing and telling him to do it he did!

My goofy guy!

Happy Easter to you all!

John 11:25-26 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

1 Peter 1:3-5 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time

Kellen's First Easter Bunny Experience

So, I took Kellen to visit the Easter first he was all smiles while I held him, even reached out to pet the cute bunny.  Then the Easter bunny sat on her bench that was all nicely decorated with a green fuzzy thing which was draped over the entire bench, a basket filled with colorful eggs, and a stuffed bunny.  Since Kellen was seemingly ok, I told the photographer, "when I sit him down just take the picture, I am not expecting it to be perfect."  She agreed.  I sat him next to the Easter bunny and calmly backed away.  Kellen gave me this look.  He was smiling, but it wasn't a normal "Kellen smile", it was more like, "Ha,ha mom, I am done.  Come get me."  The photographer snapped his picture.  Then the photographer said, try putting him on the Easter bunny's lap.  I thought, "ok lady, your funeral."  I sat Kellen on the bunny's lap and quickly reassured him he was ok, then I backed away.  He was still rather calm, but he was now reaching for me, with this even more deranged smile on his face, which read, "Mom.  Seriously.  You got your picture NOW GET ME THE **** OUT OF HERE!!!!!!", I hear the photographer take a few more.  Then he proceeds to kick the cute little stuffed Easter bunny onto the floor, he nailed the basket which was filled with colorful eggs, so the eggs went rolling across the floor.  The fuzzy little green drape was now a pile on the Easter bunny's lap.  And Kellen was running as fast as he could away from the cute Easter bunny towards me.  Screaming all the while.  Did I mention there was a line of children with their parents waiting to have their pictures taken...

Ahhhh, what an experience.  When I returned to pick up his picture they handed me this one.  Apparently it was one of the first pictures they took.  I can see the semi-deranged smile that could pass as a smile if you didn't know Kellen, but you can see that he is starting to lean away from the bunny as he plots his GRAND escape and its nice to see that all the decorative items still pretty much intact.  The stuffed bunny had already been knocked over though.

Happy Easter!!!!
