6 Months Old

What an amazing and much needed LONG weekend! My dad came for a visit on Thursday and stayed with us until Tuesday. I was sad to see him go. I miss my dad. He is such a wonderful man! He has the biggest heart! It was great spending an extra long weekend with him.

Kellen released his balloons with a note attached. Hopefully someone will find it and send it back to us!

On Monday, April 25, Kellen turned 6 months old! My goodness, life is getting better and better and Kellen is getting cuter and cuter!!! There have been many changes this past month! He has officially been sitting on his own!! My previous post shows the evidence! Here is another picture of Kellen sitting up on his own!

When he sleeps (still on his tummy) after a few minutes, he will scoot to the very top of his crib. Evan and I wake up several times during the night to check on him. We are still terrified of SIDS. There was a SIDS research auction going on last week. One of the items up for bid included an Angel Care monitor. *click on "angel care monitor for info* I bid on it and actually won! I LOVE this monitor! It goes underneath Kellen's crib mattress and detects the very slightest movement. If there is absolutely no movement for 20 seconds, an alarm will go off. I really wanted this monitor! We now have the peace of mind that he will be ok while mommy and daddy sleep. I suggest every new mom or any expecting mom to get this! Put it on your baby registry!!!

Kellen still loves tummy time! When he does tummy time he moves all over the floor. I told Evan that I really think that he will begin crawling in the next few weeks! We will see! He used to love sitting in his little bouncy chair or jumping in his jumper, but now he is happiest playing on the floor. He loves to make raspberries! His new favorite toys include his 2 feet!! He loves laying on his back and playing with his feet! And has started giving me kisses! That is the BEST feeling in the world!!! When I get home from work, or when he wakes up in the morning, I go to give him a kiss and he will literately grab my face with both hands and smooch me!!! Ahhhhh, I LOVE that boy!

Raspberries!

Easter was wonderful! I hosted my first holiday get together since having Kellen. My dad was there, Amber, Hyla and my close friends Jen and Gregg. The company was great and the food was amazing! In typical Lisa fashion, I had to acknowledge Kellen's 1/2 birthday! So, I bought him 6 balloons, a Little Tikes work bench, and Jen made him the cutest 1/2 birthday cake! I even let him taste it! He wasn't too thrilled with the texture of the cake, but he really liked the icing!!! Hehehe!

Kellen Sits All By Himself!!

Kellen has been trying to sit up on his own for a couple of weeks now, but on Sunday (4.17.11)night, he got it! And we have the proof!! The picture quality isn't the best, Evan just grabbed the closest camera he could find! I can't believe how much he is growing! We are certain to have a mobile little baby very soon! He is rolling all over the place and scooting backwards and is so active these days! Such a happy baby too! Life is good!

Change Is Gonna Come

Change. Yes, change is gonna come. Everyday, in every way, change. I love change. Old man winter is miles behind us and the beautiful change to spring is here. I love change.

Kellen is changing. His laugh is getting louder and so are his cries. He is now rolling all around the floor. He rolls from back to belly and belly to back all the while doing 360's in his crib. He is now sleeping in his crib, which we moved to our bedroom. Last night we put in breathable bumpers because twice in the past week he got his foot stuck in between the rails. I feel safer now knowing that he won't hurt himself. I do worry when I wake up in the middle of the night and he is sleeping on his belly with his face smooched in the mattress. There aren't any toys or blankets in his bed and he is very strong so I know that he is fine, I still worry and I probably always will. His vocabulary is changing, we swear he says "hi" and tries to say "i love you"...after all, he is very advanced! Pap Pap says so!

I needed a change. I've worn my hair the same way for years and years! Straight long black hair, down to the middle of my back. I decided now was a good time for change. Especially after having Kellen, my hair is shedding like crazy and I have enough hair to deal with (Siberian Husky named Kaden). So, off it went! I am glad I made such a drastic change.

Kellen used to hate tummy time, but that has changed! Here he is doing his new favorite thing, tummy time!

By Your Side

I have always loved music. I sang in choir since I was 5 years old, made county chorus all through high school and was even the youngest high school student at my high school to make state chorus. I've always loved to sing, and I still love all genres of music. Once I graduated high school I joined a band. At first the band I joined was called "Mad About Madeline", we were labeled, "ethereal rock". Then after a couple years, we evolved into "Spellamya". Those were some of the best years of my life...that is when I first started dating Evan! Since Kellen was conceived I felt it was very important for him to be exposed to music. We played lots of music while I was pregnant with him. Once he was born, he went through a typical phase of "needing something more." We couldn't figure it out! I decided to play a song for him. I always felt a connection with a particular song, but never knew why. The song is called, "By Your Side", by Sade. One evening when Kellen was 4 weeks old and was inconsolable, I decided to play that song. Within a few seconds, he calmed down. He stopped crying and stared into my eyes and slowly and peacefully drifted off to sleep. I played that particular song for weeks and successfully put my sweet angel to sleep. The lyrics are just perfect. I will always be by his side. Then just today, Kellen was having a very difficult day. Either he is teething or has gas, we aren't sure, but I am sure when I tell you that something told me to play that song...and so I did. I held him in my arms, and swayed to the music. And sure enough, within a few seconds he stopped crying and drifted off to sleep. This is our song! God bless you sweet Kellen, I am so thankful for you and I will FOREVER be by your side.

"Here's Hoping It's A Girl!!!"

So, on Friday, I made this cute little sign which read, "Here's Hoping It's A Girl", with a positive pregnancy test, a cute little girls outfit and laid it all on a pink blanket. I quickly took a picture to capture the moment. I sat on our glider holding Kellen and asked Evan to bring me a blanket. I had to lure him into the bedroom since the goods were on our bed. He walked right by and missed it, he brought me the WRONG blanket! I told him to bring me the other blanket, he says, "what blanket?", I said... on the bed! He said "what are these clothes doing here?", and walks over to me with the pink blanket, stops...frozen (I saw the thought literately reach his brain!!!), the color rushes from his face and says, "OMG, are you pregnant?" He was staring so intently at me! And asks again, "Are you?", as I watched his face get whiter and whiter I started laughing so hard that my entire body was shaking!!! After a few seconds, I had to say "april fools"! Hehehe! He was a good sport! After the blood rushed back to his head we BOTH laughed about it! Love you, Evan!;)
